Instruction for Admission

The International Theraveda Buddhist Missionary University will open in June for the 2020-2021 academic year. The first semester for the academic year 2020 begins in June and ends in October. The second semester begins on 1st December and ends in March 2021. Those who are qualified for Diploma course can send in their Application forms to the Registrar, International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University, Dhammapala Hill, Mayangone P.O., Yangon, Myanmar. Education Requirement

Foreign monks. nuns and laymen who apply for one-year Diploma course must have passed at least the Matriculation or its equivalent. Lay citizens of Myanmar must have a bachelor’s degree. B.A. or B.Sc. Age limit for applicants for the Diploma course is between 18 and 45 years. The Selection Board reserves the right to decide whether a particular applicant has met On requirements.

Entrance Examination

Foreign candidates are required to sit for a written examination at the Embassy of Myanmar in their country of residence, or at the examination center in ITBMU, Yangon, Myanmar. There will be two papers on English proficiency and general knowledge relevant to Buddhism. The closing date for application for the Diploma course is 16th December 2019. The Entrance Examination date is 9th January 2020. The personal interview with candidates will be held at the Embassy of Myanmar in their country of residence. Please enquire the interview date at respective embassies. The admission policy of the University is liberal and flexible for qualified students for the Diploma course. Priority will be given to foreign students. A recent medical certificate on physical and mental fitness from a recognized medical authority is required of students eligible for entrance to the University.

Visa & Other’ expenses

Once a foreign student is admitted to the Diploma course, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture will take responsibility for visa applications and extensions. Tuition, boarding and meals for foreign students will be provided free by the University. Expenses for travel on joining the University will not be borne by the University.
