Procedures on Myanmar Visa and Entry

Myanmar Embassy, New Delhi

In case of emergency, an Indian national can apply for a visa at Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi through the Embassy’s email address: myandelhi@gmail.com. Only email application is allowed in light of the spread of COVID-19. Until further notice, the following types of visas are applicable:-

(1) Gratis Diplomatic/Official Courtesy visa

(2) Official Visa

(3) Business Visa

(4) Social Visa

(5) Journalist Visa

(6) Crew Visa

(7) Entry Visa for Non-diplomatic staff and their Immediate Family Members

The applicant must attach all the required documents along with the personnel letter to the Embassy. Required documents for each respective visa type can be seen at the table below. 

For those who apply for both Visa and Entry Permit:

 

  1. Myanmar Embassy accepts visa application via aforementioned email, and submit the application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Nay Pyi Taw to seek the approval from The National Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.
  2. As per procedures for Business Visa approval, the applicant must submit all the required documents such as Request Letter to Embassy mentioning the reason to enter Myanmar, Company registration, invitation, Competent line Ministry, etc. In general, it takes at least 30 days (or) more than four working weeks to complete the approval procedures.
  3. In the case of Entry Permit, in consideration of providing quarantine facility and healthcare services in Myanmar, the National Level Central Committee in Myanmar has set the limit of the number of Foreign nationals to permit the entry to Myanmar on a weekly basis and a limited number of Indian nationals are allowed to enter Myanmar per each flight.
  4. If the applicant is permitted to enter Myanmar with specific Air India Flight (which is arranged by Indian Government under Vande Bharat Mission), the embassy will contact the applicant via email or phone number mentioned in the application email.
  5. The applicant is advised to visit the Embassy for a visa with passport and Negative Result Report of 72 hours RT-PCR Test (Swab test).
  6. The Embassy is issuing visas within one Working day.

For those who apply for Entry Permit holding valid visa:

 

  1. An India national, holding valid Myanmar Visa, can apply Entry Permit at Myanmar Embassy online via aforementioned email. One has to mention the date of specific Air India Flight (which is arranged by Indian Government under Vande Bharat Mission).
  2. The applicant must contact the Embassy at least three working weeks or more before the date of travel with scheduled Flight.
  3. The Embassy, likewise, will submit the entry application to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Nay Pyi Taw to seek the approval from The National Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19. Only a limited umber of Indian nationals are allowed to enter Myanmar per each flight in consideration of providing quarantine facility and healthcare services in Myanmar.
  4. If the applicant are permitted to enter Myanmar with respective Air India Flight, the embassy will contact the applicant via email or phone number mentioned in the application email.
  5. The applicant must show Negative Result Report of 72 hours RT-PCR Test (Swab test) to the concerned Authorities at Myanmar Airport.

*In case of not getting Entry Permission for requested flight, the Embassy will keep the applicant’s details in the ‘waiting list’ for Entry Permission only if the applicant informs (email) to the Embassy the desired date of travel with next scheduled flights. The applicant may undergo the same procedures for each scheduled flight.

  2. Visa Collection Hours (Monday to Friday) Evening (04:00 to 05:00) p.m
  3. Processing Time : generally (2) working days.
  4. Visa required documents must be attached with the applications.

For all Visa types, the following documents are required:-

  1. One copy of Entry Visa Application Form which has to be duly filled and signed by the applicant.
  2. Affix (2) recent photos of (1½ x 2) inches, white colour background.
  3. Valid passport [ at least 6 months validity ] and passport copy
  4. Demand draft (DD) of any Indian bank addressed to the account “Myanmar Embassy” (Not necessary for Gratis Visa Applicants)
  5. *No Cash payment at the Embassy is acceptable and no extra-charges/ service fee is required.
  6. Visa fees are waived for children under 7 years old. No need to deposit visa fees (Demand Draft) for them.
  7. Visa interview if necessary.

  11. In pandemic, both on-arrival visa and e-visa are not applicable.
